Clearing the engine light

Is there any way of clearing the engine warning light on my 2006 Toyota Prius without taking the car to a dealer? Alan Forshaw

Your Prius has to comply with European legislation with regards to the on-board diagnostics system (OBD). This means that any basic EOBD scan tool should be able to read and clear fault codes, extinguishing the engine management light. Knowing the actual cause of the fault will offer a far better opportunity to fix the problem and prevent it from reoccurring.
