Spare wheel option

-

I have a Toyota Aygo that I got from new through a scrappage deal, which has no spare wheel but does have a spare wheel well which could hold one. The vehicle has 15in alloys and they cost £80, so would I have the option of getting a spare steel wheel or would they be a different size?

I would also like your advice on battery charging as the manual doesn’t cover this, only connecting jump leads. I have heard about a booster device that can be plugged into the lighter socket and supply enough voltage to save the radio code. I always removed the battery on my previous vehicle, but this one will have different instructions. W Williamson

I have found an online website (thewheelshop.co.uk; tel 0161 302 5656) currently selling an Aygo spacesaver spare wheel for £74.95, which may be the best option for you.

To operate the battery saver device that saves the radio code normally requires another battery connected to it. Similar but more efficient devices are those that connect to the EOBD socket – these are preferable as often the lighter socket will not operate without the ignition in the accessory position.

From the details I have, your Toyota Aygo should not require the input of a radio code after disconnecting the battery. I am assuming you wish to charge the battery due to low usage of the vehicle. If this is the case, I recommend using a charger such as the CTEK MXS 3.8, which can be fitted to your vehicle without the need to disconnect the battery.
