Experts get a crash-damaged Jaguar XF back on the road.

-

Accident-damaged but repairable vehicles are a popular option when it comes to buying a used vehicle, so when we heard that Jaguar breakers Eurojag were making the most of their vast assortment of spares to return cars to the road, we were keen to know more.

Here we are following the repair and reassembly of a 2014 XF that had been involved in a front-end crash. The damage looked typically quite nasty, but upon closer inspection, we could see that several components had broken in an attempt to preserve the occupants and the main structure of the vehicle. Suspension arms, the front bumper and the headlights were all bin fodder, but could be viably replaced.

Repairing a crash-damaged vehicle isn’t always as straightforward as it may seem and it might not always be a case of removing a few parts and replacing them. It’s important to measure the vehicle and inspect its chassis legs to ensure it hasn’t been structurally damaged.

In the case of this XF, the engine bed had sustained damage, so it had to be replaced. And if the chassis legs had been bent, it wouldn’t necessarily mean scrapping the vehicle – it can often be straightened using a bodyshop jig.

The following steps provide an overview of the several days that Eurojag and their local bodyshop spent repairing a Category S crash-damaged Jag XF, highlighting the damaged parts that were removed, and how the vehicle was carefully reassembled.
