Manifold obstruction

u I’m finding that, where there used to be two kinds of motorists, there are now three. The two kinds used to be those who take their vehicle into a garage for repair and those who do it themselves. The second type would often come in for the major stuff but otherwise they would never be seen.

Now, I see the intermediate DIY-ER. Some jobs, such as the spark plugs on this 2013 Nissan Micra, aren’t that straightforward and although they don’t need regular attention, when they do need doing – with the removal of the inlet manifold required – it can be easier to leave it to the professional.

The owner of the Nissan had taken everything else in his stride. Nevertheless, he asked me to change the spark plugs for him – a job that, with his DIY abilities, I’m sure he could have tackled had he shown a little more confidence.

The manifold needs to be removed to access the spark plugs, but this isn’t too bad a task.
