Heater horror

-

u I often get phone calls from owners telling me their heater blower isn’t working. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred the problem will either be the series resistor or the blower motor. On most vehicles this is a pretty easy fix.

When this 2000 Ford Mondeo came to me with the heater motor not operating, things weren’t so simple, though. Checking through the circuit there was no feed to the heater motor or the series resistor, meaning the problem was further back in the circuit.

When I went to check the fusebox connections the blower suddenly fired into life, and whatever I did after that it continued to run. I suspected the fuse panel was the culprit, but this owner was pleased that it was working and didn’t want to go any further.

?? ?? Checking the connections at the fusebox had restored the blower operation, but for how long?
