Verdict
Having become such a common sight, you’re not going to stand out from the crowd nowadays by opting for one of these. Yet, it set the template for the numerous imitators launched since and a Juke still proves eyecatching; that alone may be enough to swing the decision in its favour – as might the better view out provided by the raised ride height.
It’s an appealing point of difference in the sector, and while the overall driving experience isn’t what you’d call entertaining (although NISMO models feel lively, if a little hard-riding) that’s hardly a deal-breaker. Instead, you’re getting a car that offers a reasonable level of practicality – although a similarly dimensioned MINI Countryman is better in this respect – and one that should prove affordable and reliable to run.
Assuming those ‘Marmite’ looks don’t put you off we think a Juke should definitely be on your shopping list. More than a million buyers can’t be wrong. Can they?
