UNDERSIDE INSPECTION

-

27 PINCH CV BOOTS

Check the condition of the driveshaft boots (at both ends) to look for cracks in the rubber, which could allow grease to escape and water and dirt to get inside. Also check the rubber gaiters fitted over the steering track rods.

30 CHECK FLEXI-HOSES

Inspect all of the brake flexi-hoses at all four corners of the vehicle, looking for cracks, perishing and leaks. Make sure the brake pad wear sensors and their wiring are securely fitted in place.

28 CHECK HANDBRAKE

Turin Motors has found that the handbrake cable’s connections and outer sleeving can corrode around where it’s secured to the rear trailing arms, resulting in problems with the efficiency of the handbrake. So check the condition of the cable and its mounting points in this area.

31 CHECK REAR BRAKES

The rear brakes consist of a single-piston caliper. The thickness of the brake pads can be checked without having to strip the brakes. Check the thickness of the solid brake disc (minimum thickness 10mm), ensuring it’s not excessively worn or heavily corroded.
