Obsolete parts

-

One of the items unique to the limited-edition 2012 Ford Fiesta Centura is the addition of DRLS in the bumper. As I understand it, these were manufactured outside of Ford and fitted at the dealership prior to sale. They appear to be completely sealed with no serviceable components.

The nearside on my car is now very dim and can flash on occasion. It also appears to have condensation inside the lens. I have spoken to my local Ford dealer, which advised me that they are now obsolete and no longer available. The dealer said: “The part you are after comes as a kit and is £356 including VAT, but unfortunately it is no longer available. The part number is 1717414 if this helps, but I have looked online and I can’t see any for sale”.

Can you advise if there is an alternative supplier of these lamps? I understand malfunctioning lamp will not affect the MOT test, but would like to have them working as they should.

The lamps were manufactured by MS Design of Austria (www.ms-design.com), but from my research it appears they will not deal direct with the public. The part number should be MSD.FO52.08.50TFL. At the time of writing, a new set was available on ebay for £39.99.
