The comfort and dehumidifying benefits of air-conditioning can be negated quickly if you neglect to change the cabin filter annually. Referred also as a pollen filter, you can either select a standard replacement, or upgrade to a carbonactivated item, which helps to filter out odours and certain airborne particulates. They can be a little tricky to access, as seen in this demonstration on a Fiat Punto 1.3 Multijet (2012-2018), the details of which are supplied courtesy of UFI filters. As these models are equipped with air-blend ventilation, hot water is running through the heater matrix continually. So, if you've had the engine running recently, be wary of touching hot water pipes – they may scald you.
When you're fitting the new part, also check the direction in which the airflow arrows point and ensure that the cabin filter is inserted the correct way around.

Don't force the filter into place, and neither crimp, nor tear, the material. Fit the plastic cover, reassemble the trim and vacuum-out any particles from the carpet.
Compare the old filter against the new
C one side-by-side so that you can be sure the replacement is to the correct dimensions.
Working on the passenger side
A beneath the glovebox, move the carpet and unclip the plastic trim panel carefully. This provides access to the heater box.
Remove the securing Phillips screw,
B dismount the cover carefully and withdraw the cabin filter from its housing. Look for the airflow arrows printed on the filter body, for later reference.
