Possible cam sensor

Q Could you offer any suggestions regarding a problem with my

2006 Vauxhall Vivaro turbodiesel? The engine will rev to around 3200rpm, then cut-out until the revs drop to around 2500rpm, after which it will then rev again. This gives a very jerky ride, to say the least. The fault occurs in all gears and when the vehicle is in neutral, whether the engine is hot or cold. The fault codes I have are: ‘DF195 - coherence between camshaft sensor’, ‘DF199 - boost pressure sensor’, ‘DF002 - Air temperature sensor’ and ‘DF056 - air flow sensor’.

Would the camshaft sensor be the first component to replace?

A You do not mention if your Vivaro is the 1.9 or 2.0 version and this may affect the advice I am giving. If the engine is the 2:0 version, a common problem is that the turbocharger intercooler hose chafes on the glow plug relay, causing the hose to split. This should be checked first as the symptoms would tie in with what you’re experiencing.

The codes you have are also commonly associated with throttle body issues on the Vivaro, and a problem in this area could cause the type of problem you have.

With the code for the camshaft sensor being present, and as that sensor will be the cheapest of the components to replace, it does make sense to try this first before moving on to the more expensive units.

?? ?? Various fault codes are present but the cheapest component to renew first is the CPS.
