AIR FILTER & SPARK PLUGS

-

10 REMOVE COIL PACKS

There are three ignition coil packs for three spark plugs. Undo a 10mm bolt that secures each coil pack. If it’s tight, grip the coil pack to avoid twisting it when trying to undo the bolt

(it should only be tightened to 10Nm). Lift out one coil pack at a time to avoid mixing them up.

11 REMOVE SPARK PLUGS

The three spark plugs are set deep inside the engine, so require a 16mm spark plug socket and long extension bar to undo and remove each one. A rubber bung inside the socket will help to grip the spark plug when extracting it.

12 CHECK NEW PLUGS

Make sure the new spark plugs have the same long-reach thread as the old ones. We fitted NGK spark plugs from GSF Car Parts. Check the electrode gap is 43-thou (1.1mm).

13 FIT NEW PLUGS

Use a length of hose to initially fit each spark plug instead of using a spark plug socket in which the rubber insert may become detached and left wrapped around the plug. Tighten each spark plug to 25Nm, using a spark plug socket with the rubber insert removed.
