The sump is machined to a very high standard with a faintly ‘ribbed’ effect. Smear a light coat of sealer to the flange, keeping it away from the inner edge. I’ve applied a fair bit here and used a finger to wipe it away from the inner edge before fitting so it doesn’t get forced inwards.
