Fault 3: ABS SENSOR PROBLEM

-

If the ABS warning light comes on, with no accompanying driving issues, carrying out a diagnostic check will show, for example, ‘C0031 wheel speed sensor, left-hand front’.

Firstly, look at actual values live data, looking at all four wheels; road-test and watch for a signal being supplied. If none is evident, proceed to check the sensor for cracks or water ingress – you could swap the sensor with one from the opposite side of the car, if no oscilloscope is available. However, a ‘scope’, if available, will accurately measure a signal from the sensor, but of course not every garage or home mechanic has one.

Edward strongly advises always fitting genuine ‘original equipment’ quality ABS sensors – in his considerable experience, the prices for these OE parts are very competitive these days.
