Impressive line-up announced for Autotech extravaganza
▶ Taking place this year at the Delphi Technologies workshop in Warwick on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th September, Autotech’s Big Weekend is set to offer attendees a wealth of practical advice with a strong focus on promoting first time fixes through the diagnostic process.
Both the Friday and Saturday will feature unique content from every must-see session, especially for any industry professionals that find themselves giving away diagnostic time in the workshop, or struggling to diagnose complex faults.
Andy Crook of Gotboost will be delivering two sessions over the weekend. On Friday he’ll be investigating the issue of “Framing the problem.” This will reveal how processes and systems can help both business and technicians prevent diagnostic headaches, and how to set yourself up for success; keeping effective records.
Andy’s second session, “Closing the Loop,” will provide practical advice on how to improve customer satisfaction, up your firsttime fix rate and how to improve your diagnostic capability.
VAG specialist Gareth Davies will also be hosting a double dose of education excellence over the event, with his first presentation focusing on a 5V reference circuit fault, how it can manifest in terms of DTCS and symptoms/behaviours. He’ll be using a ‘broken’ car live in the studio and calling on the audience to participate as a team in choosing the route to diagnosis.
On day two, Gareth will use the same car but with a different fault imposed, looking at interpretations of faults with and without DTCS, recognising good and bad data, and going into further detail along with offering a brief recap of the previous session.
As if that wasn’t enough of an education opportunity, Matt Cleevely of Cleevely EV will also be demystifying EV repair, having created a bespoke rig containing all the high-voltage elements of a Nissan LEAF. He’ll cover examples of quirky faults he’s discovered that appear difficult but are, in fact, straight forward to fix, while also describing the kind of repairs that a garage can expect over the coming years.
Last but not least, Pete Melville of HEVRA will be demonstrating the multi-stage diagnostic process for faults imposed on a Renault ZOE, from basic to complex concerns.
Tickets are priced at £79 (plus VAT) for a single day ticket and £129 (plus VAT) for a two-day pass. For more information or to book your place, visit autotechnician.co.uk/training
