Wiring diagram

Q I’ve had an issue with a parasitic draw on my 2010 Dodge Journey 2.0 CRD SXT (fitted with the VW

BKD engine). The battery is running flat within one to two days. After performing a draw-test, I’ve identified the following fuse-related draws present, after the car has gone to sleep (ie. time elapsed):

▶ M20 is drawing around 2.5 Amps. This supplies the EVIC, interior light and steering wheels controls.

▶ M13, Cabin Compartment Node & Multifunction Switch/siren Module, appears to be drawing 0.05 Amps

(50 milliamps). Is this normal?

▶ M12, Radio Amplifier, draws 0.12 Amps (120 milliamps). Again, is this normal

(it does host clock, etc.)

No interior lights are on that I can see (checked glovebox and boot).

Furthermore, if I pull these fuses when parking the car for a few days or more, the car stays charged up. What I guess that I need to do is isolate the internal components relevant to the above fuses, 1 by 1, and then see what items are responsible for the draw.

Problem is that I cannot locate a wiring diagram for this vehicle. Can you please point me to where I could obtain one? I don’t mind paying for it if it gives what I need.

Many thanks for any help you can give. John Durcan A The draw on the audio system and the alarm would appear to be in line with what I would expect to be an acceptable level. The

2.5 amp draw from the M20 fuse does appear to be the one that may be at the root of the problem.

This feeds the Hazard warning lamps, instrument panel and multifunction steering wheel. I would first try only disconnecting this fuse when leaving the vehicle to ensure that this is in fact the one causing the drain on the battery.

If this is confirmed, then the reason may be that the instrument panel is the cause of the problem. Further investigation would need to be made and by disconnecting the instrument panel and then testing for the current drain through fuse number 20. This may then confirm the source of the problem.

If no change to the current drain is seen, then I would next try disconnecting the hazard switch and if this does not prove to stop the drain then the loom to the steering wheel controls would need to be disconnected, although this in my mind is the least likely source of the problem.

A workshop manual for your Dodge is available from www.emanualonline.com but unsure if this includes a wiring diagram.
