Webasto solar sunroof
Q I am having a problem with the Webasto solar sunroof on my 2007 Skoda Superb 2.5 V6 TDI. Initially the spring/clip at the front centre between the lining and the panel broke. The lining came loose and off its tracks and off the spigots which bend the rear of the liningup when the ‘tilt’ facility is in operation. I fitted a new spring clip and relocated the lining in its tracks and on the spigots. During the process, another spring clip (similar but not the same as the one I refitted) dropped down from the roof and I cannot find where it came from.
Now, I can open the sunroof, but when I try to close it, it comes forward about half or two-thirds of the way (it varies), hesitates, then slides back to the open position again. It can only be closed manually now.
John O’dwyer A It is very likely that the roof is jamming when it comes forward, triggering the safety system and preventing the roof from closing. The instructions in the workshop manual specify that the roof should be removed before attending to the sun screen panel.
The roof is quite easily removed by opening to around 100mm to the rear and then slightly pulling down the sunscreen to unhook it and then sliding the roof back. The roof can then be set to tilt and the three securing screws on each side can be removed, allowing the solar glass panel to lift up from the top. With the glass panel removed, the sun screen can be slid back and you should be able to see any problems with the runner system by looking down from above.
From the diagrams I have, it is difficult to say where the clip you found has come from, but hopefully viewing it with the screen removed, you should be able to see where the problem lies.
