Peter Coyle’s letter in the September issue about the Icon Buyer feature on Saabs was timely, as I dipped my toe in the Saab market for the first time this year, just a few days before the feature appeared in your August issue.

I too always admired Saabs and found a 13-year-old 93 convertible for sale for £800. I bought it on the spot and for the4

last two months my 320d has sat forlornly in the drive as I have fallen in love with my new beast during the fantastic summer weather of 2018.

Despite having driven 160,000 miles it was given a clean bill of health by a local specialist and has garnered many compliments (and offers to buy it).

Originally I planned to keep it until the winter but I have changed my mind and plans are in place for it to be looked after during the winter so it’s ready for sunny days in 2019.

Peter Coyle, don’t give up on your idea, there are hundreds of old Saabs for sale at bargain prices. Go and find one!
