Right ’box, wrong engine

In response to Chris Waite’s letter in the October issue, I get the impression that the behaviour of DSG gearboxes varies considerably from model to model and maybe they’re just not suited to Chris’s Seat Leon. All I know is that I’ve had DSG in two successive petrol VW Sciroccos and never once in eight years – largely driving in London – yearned for that third pedal.
