YOUR EVOQUE

-

Land Rover’s commitment to diesel for the foreseeable is borne out in the Evoque’s conigurator, which o€ers no fewer than four diesel powertrain options: an ultra-low-CO2 front-wheeldrive, manual D150 (148bhp, from £31,600), and three auto all-wheel-drive set-ups: D150 (£35,100), D180 (178bhp, from £35,850) and D240 (237bhp, from £38,600).

The petrol Ingenium line-up all use all-wheel drive and the evolved nine-speed auto ’box: P200 (197bhp, £35,950), P250 (246bhp, £37,150) and the range-topping, hot-hatch-bothering P300 (296bhp, £40,350).

Two fully loaded UK irst editions will be available: a D180 for £49,550, and a P250 for an eye-watering £50,400 – some £4k more than the admittedly bumbasic entry point into the Porsche Macan, with its comparable four-cylinder petrol engine.

Trim levels kick o€ with the choice of standard or RœDynamic, with the latter bringing more aggressive exterior styling details, chrome tread plates, di€erent 17-inch wheels and a few interior touches like perforated leather on the steering wheel for £1500. At this stage your Evoque looks a little sorry for itself: 17s, no trick ClearSight mirror (a £450 or £315 option, depending on trim), no Touch Pro Duo. You need SE trim to give your car the interior it really needs: Touch Pro Duo and the Interactive Driver Display. At this point your Evoque’s looking much better, with signature DRLs on your LED headlamps and 20-inch wheels. Do that with the P250 petrol engine and you’re looking at £44,850.
