Four-wheel steer

Optional on lesser 911s, rear-axle steering mimics the eect of shortening and lengthenin­g the wheelbase by turning the rear wheels against the direction of the fronts at lower speeds for extra agility, and in parallel for highspeed stability. Most rear-steer systems need only one actuator; the 911’s drivetrain layout means it needs one on each side.
