BUILD THE PERFECT JEEP WRANGLER
Our specced-up Wrangler is ready for rock-climbing in style
The Jeep Wrangler has recently been updated, so we asked Jeep to spec us an all-weather o -road
machine. Rob Lake, Jeep’s Wrangler product manager, has chosen as the starting point a fourdoor Wrangler Rubicon – the top-spec version – which comes with a 197bhp 2.2-litre diesel, eight-speed automatic gearbox and a low-range ‘box, too. Rubicon spec
also throws in some tougher o -road goodies
like an electronically disconnecting front roll bar, locking di s and BF
Goodrich tyres. Starting price: £47,995 Since the Rubicon is fairly well-equipped (parking
assist, heated leather seats, nav, keyless entry, an Alpine audio system
connected to FCA’s Uconnect infotainment system) there are few options. ‘The Technology Pack (£500) adds blindspot monitoring with a rear cross-path alert, and “passive entry” doors makes this a key-free
environment.’
Total price: £51,370 ‘There are lots of directions we could go with this, but I would suggest something quite visual, for o -road fun and exploration,’ says Rob. Our Wrangler is inished in retina-searing Mojito Green paint (£675) – ‘this will make it stand out for sure. Ocean Blue is another good choice if you want something pretty rather than loud,’ says Rob. Rubicon spec also has LED headlights, some natty decals and 17-inch alloys. Plus, our rugged 4x4 comes with a black Power Soft Top (£2200). ‘It’s a new feature for the Wrangler, which, while not cheap, will add to the uniqueness and facilitate the open-air feeling without having to remove and store a hardtop.’ Running total: £50,870
