Tell me, what’s your flavour?
Don’t be blinded by SUVs and electrification; there is a future for the kind of cars you like.
Lamborghini Huracan RWD
We’ve long been a fan of Lamborghini’s rear-drive Huracan derivative, so we’re not about to say no to a new version. This time there’s a far smaller power gap between the RWD and the all-wheeldrive car; 602bhp sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch ’box. Sant’Agata has tuned the traction control to feed the torque in as you exit a slide, for better control, and the RWD model has different front and rear bumpers. Ceramics are an option.

Porsche 718 GTS 4.0
The number six is hip again at Porsche, as the GTS-spec 718 twins get a heart transplant. Instead of the turbo flat-four, both cars now use a slightly detuned version of the 4.0-litre flat-six in the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder – rated at 394bhp, and good for 0-62mph in 4.5sec (0.4 sec quicker than before) and a 182mph top speed. A six-speed manual is a given and Porsche throws in a mechanical LSD, active suspension management and engine mounts, plus a sports exhaust.

Lotus Evora GT410
Most car makers start by making a car, then concocting a faster and more hardcore one. Not Lotus. Its rather excellent GT410 Sport now has this more comfort-orientated version with more compliant damping, thicker soundproofing, all-weather Michelins and a revised rear end for better visibility. There’s also a reversing camera and proper infotainment with a smartphone interface, too. Still under 1400kg and capable of a 4.1sec 0-62mph sprint, mind.

Alpine A110 SportsX
Just when we thought the Alpine A110 couldn’t get any better, the team in Dieppe has crafted this jaw-dropping, rally-bashing version designed to pay homage to the ’73 Monte Carlo Rally A110. The SportsX is essentially a A110 Pure – 1.8 turbo, 249bhp, 236lb ft and 0-62mph in 4.5sec before the off-road fripperies were attached – that’s been lifted by 60mm, with an 80mm wider track. Please build it, Alpine. Please.
