experiences with the Jag i-Pace and Mini E was enough to convince me.
I’ve been running a Mercedes E320 CDI Sport for the last 10 years, which comfortably exceeds 40mpg on a run and has a range of 500/600 miles. It’s frequently taken us the 340 miles from Hampshire to the Lake District, only needing a five-minute stop to top up on the way home. I dread to think how many recharges an EV would require. My budget gave me a choice of the VW Arteon 272 or BMW 430i Gran Coupe. I tried both and, as you say in GBU, although good, the Arteon is fine if you can’t afford a BMW.
Furthermore, reading Ben Barry’s running report on his 330i Touring helped to convince me that the same engine in the GC would suit my needs for performance and economy... and it sure does!
I’m really impressed by the power this four-pot puts out and so far it’s delivering 38mpg-plus. It’s early days but I’m loving it.
Thanks for the help, guys.
A pleasure to serve. BM
