Stellantis: nothing less than greatness will do

-

As multi-billion-dollar mergers go, the union of DS owner PSA with FCA to form Stellantis, the world’s fourth largest car company, has been remarkably unremarkable. Most of the familiar execs are still there, although some are in new roles – the highest-profile being former Citroën boss Linda Jackson (right), who will now run Peugeot. Another Brit, Mike Manley, previously in charge of FCA, is now the group’s Head of Americas. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares says that, for now at least, the company will keep all of its 14 brands, its 400,000 employees and its factories in 30 countries. It aims to continue making about eight million vehicles a year, with revenues of more than £150 billion.

Tavares, who successfully merged Vauxhall-Opel into PSA without any plant closures, said the new company ‘aims to be great rather than big’ and was ‘determined to be much more than the sum of its parts’.
