“I find fashion and fabrics very inspiring. A walk down the high street can give you great ideas for colour combos”

WIhat is your favourite product in the current range?

think it has to be the woodland scene die with the reindeers in front of it. It can be used in so many ways, both with the different animals and all my foliage dies. Do you have any exciting product releases planned for the rest of 2018? Of course! There are lots of new products coming – more Christmas designs and some new autumnal additions, too. What’s your favourite papercraft trend at the moment? I’m loving using Distress Oxide inks with stencils and spritz effects. And this year we’ve seen a real trend in stencils, which is fabulous. They can be used for so many different things – dry embossing, paste, spritzing, inking… Has anything funny or embarrassing ever happened to you on live TV? There have been a few incidents over the years. I once had a complete disaster of a card so I just threw it over my shoulder and carried on! Then there were times when the wrong word slipped out… seashell kit was one mishap – I’m sure you can imagine what I said instead while speaking fast… Who or what inspires your creativity? I’ll always say nature – the colours and beauty of it. I love floral designs and the incredible colours in them. Plus, all the amazing animals on our planet, they inspire me all the time. I also find fashion and fabrics very inspiring. A walk down the high street can give you great ideas for colour combos. Tell us about a day in your life... Well, my days can vary a great deal. I can either be designing at home and spending most of the day in my craft room or having a crazy day like today. I was up at 9am (after prepping until 1am!), had a quick shower, packed, left the house at 10.30am, drove to Birmingham, checked in to fly to Düsseldorf, arrived at 6pm and went straight to the studio to set up for my 10am show in the morning! I was in the studio until 1am preparing, then crashed in my hotel room… glamorous it isn’t! What does your craft room look like? My craft room is organised chaos. I never have time to clear up after the last show before I have to start preparing for the next one. I have lots of shelves and drawers that are stuffed full to the brim with products and stash. What’s your favourite thing about the job? I love to share my ideas and inspiration. I’ve had wonderful feedback over the 25 years I’ve been on TV, with viewers telling me that I have opened up a new world to them and given them a fabulous hobby. Craft can be so therapeutic and escapist, and we all need a little bit of that! What do you most enjoy doing in your spare time? My very best friend is my little dog, Charlie! I love to take him for walks and explore the Stamford area where I have recently moved to. I also love making jewellery and have set up a selling page on Facebook. I like making bracelets and handbag charms. My dream is to retire to a hot climate and have a little gift shop or a cafe (selling lovely desserts, of course) then I can go back to my roots and sell my handmade jewellery and design appliqué for clothes and bags. If you could take three things away with you to a desert island, what would they be? Oh, it would definitely be my little Fiskars scissors – I can’t craft without those. It would also probably have to be my pokey tool and my glue. Can I have one more thing? I’d need some AB Gems to bling everything up!
