Make home­spun sewing-themed gifts

1 Home pic­ture

1 Re­move the glass and back­ing board from a photo frame. Cut a piece of white pat­terned pa­per to match the size of the back­ing board and in­sert into the frame. Re­place the back­ing board. 2 Die-cut the square cross stitch hoop from white card and wood­grain card. Use pink, blue and green stranded cot­ton to stitch the house de­sign onto the white die-cut piece, as shown. At­tach the die-cuts to­gether and add to the frame. 3 Stamp a sen­ti­ment onto white card us­ing brown ink. Trim, then layer onto wood­grain card and at­tach to the frame. Add pa­per flow­ers around the sen­ti­ment.

2 Heart gift tag

1 Die-cut the cir­cle cross stitch hoop from white card and wood­grain card. Use pink em­broi­dery thread to stitch the heart de­sign onto the white die-cut piece, as shown. At­tach the die-cuts to­gether. 2 Colour the top of the hoop with a gold marker, as shown. At­tach the lay­ered hoop onto a die-cut cir­cle of pat­terned pa­per with sticky fix­ers. 3 At­tach a loop of pink em­broi­dery thread to the top of the tag. Add pa­per flow­ers to the bot­tom of the tag.

3 Trin­ket box

1 Die-cut a cir­cle from blue pat­terned pa­per, ink the edges in brown and at­tach to the top of a cir­cu­lar gift box. Add a strip of lace across the cen­tre. 2 Die-cut a heart from cream card and ink the edges in brown. At­tach to the top of the box with sticky fix­ers. Die-cut the man­nequin and scis­sors from kraft card. Ink the edges in brown and run a gold marker around the out­side edges. Add to the box with sticky fix­ers. 3 Wrap lace around the box and se­cure in place. At­tach three pearls to the top of the box, to fin­ish.

4 Pen holder

1 Cover a card­board tube with pink pat­terned pa­per. Wrap lace around the top and se­cure in place. Die-cut but­tons from pat­terned pa­pers and at­tach around the bot­tom of the tube. 2 Die-cut the man­nequin, scis­sors, thim­ble and cot­ton reel from kraft card. Ink the edges in brown and run a gold marker around the out­side edges. Wrap pink em­broi­dery thread around the cot­ton reel and se­cure on the re­verse. At­tach the die-cut pieces to the tube as shown. 3 At­tach a length of pink em­broi­dery thread to the bot­tom of the tube, se­cur­ing one end be­hind the cot­ton reel. Stamp a sen­ti­ment onto white pat­terned pa­per and trim. Ink the edges in brown and at­tach us­ing sticky fix­ers.

5 Shaker card

1 At­tach a 130x175mm piece of blue pat­terned pa­per to a 135x180mm white base. Place a piece of cream card into the Needle­craft Cut and Em­boss folder and run through your die-cut­ting ma­chine. Trim and ink the edges in brown. 2 At­tach ac­etate be­hind the oval aper­ture and po­si­tion sticky fix­ers around the edge of the oval aper­ture on top of the ac­etate. Fill the cen­tre of the oval with but­tons and at­tach a 110x155mm piece of floral pa­per on top. Add to the base. 3 Stamp a sen­ti­ment onto cream card with red ink, trim and ink the edges in brown. Layer onto blue pat­terned pa­per and at­tach to the base.

6 Dé­coupage let­ters

1 Tear dé­coupage pa­pers into small squares. Ap­ply a layer of dé­coupage glue onto a large 3D let­ter, at­tach a square and paint over the pa­per with an­other layer of glue. Con­tinue un­til each let­ter is cov­ered and leave to dry. 2 Draw around each let­ter onto pat­terned pa­per. Care­fully cut around the shapes and at­tach to the front of the cor­re­spond­ing let­ters us­ing dé­coupage glue. Al­low to dry. 3 Trim the pa­per around the let­ters, if re­quired, us­ing scis­sors or a craft knife. Ink the edges of each let­ter with brown ink, to fin­ish.

7 Vin­tage card

1 Stamp im­ages to cover a 140mm square kraft base us­ing brown ink. Ink the edges in brown. At­tach washi tape and lace to the cen­tre of the base, as shown. 2 Die-cut the sewing ma­chine and two cot­ton reels from wood­grain card. Ink the edges in brown and run a gold marker around the out­side edges. Stamp a sen­ti­ment onto cream card in black, trim and ink the edges in brown. 3 At­tach the sewing ma­chine to the base us­ing sticky fix­ers and add the sen­ti­ment on top. Wrap pink and green em­broi­dery thread around the cot­ton reels and add to the base, se­cur­ing the loose ends on the base. Add dec­o­ra­tive pins to one of the cot­ton reels.

8 Flower brooch

1 Use the Pretty Pe­tals Multi Me­dia die to die-cut a flower shape from a piece of pink pat­terned pa­per and two leaves from blue pat­terned pa­per. Start­ing from the outer pe­tals, roll the strip into a coil to cre­ate a flower shape and se­cure in place. 2 Die-cut a cir­cle from a piece of kraft card and ink the edges in brown. Use a nar­row strip of kraft card to at­tach a safety pin to the back of the cir­cle. 3 At­tach the two leaves and rolled flower to the kraft cir­cle as shown, to fin­ish.

9 Note­book cover

1 Cover a note­book with a piece of white floral pa­per. Die-cut the sewing ma­chine from kraft card, ink the edges in brown and add to the note­book. At­tach a strip of lace to the bot­tom. 2 Die-cut two cot­ton reels from wood­grain card, one cot­ton reel from red card and one cot­ton reel from teal card. Trim the cen­tral sec­tion from the red and teal die-cuts and at­tach to the wood­grain cot­ton reels. Ink the edges in brown and add to the note­book with sticky fix­ers. 3 Stamp a sen­ti­ment onto white pat­terned pa­per in brown ink, trim and ink the edges in brown ink. At­tach to the bot­tom right corner of the note­book. Add but­tons as shown, to fin­ish.

10 Cross stitch card

1 At­tach a 135mm square of grey pat­terned pa­per to a 140mm square white base. Wrap pink em­broi­dery thread around the top of the base and tie in a bow. 2 Stamp the cross stitch heart onto the cen­tre of a 102mm square of white card us­ing grey ink. Stamp a sen­ti­ment and four dec­o­ra­tive cor­ners, as shown, in blue. 3 Layer the panel onto a piece of pink pat­terned pa­per and at­tach to the cen­tre of the base with sticky fix­ers. Add pearls to each corner of the panel, to fin­ish.
