THE monthly meeting was held at Peniel Hall on Thursday, October 11. Before the meeting started, Mabel announced the bereavemen­t of Eunice, Davina’s sister.

Eunice had been Peniel WI longest serving treasurer and she had been treasurer of the League of Friends, a keen golfer and Bridge player. Liz read a short tribute to Eunice and Mercia sent flowers and a card to Davina from members.

Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Birthday wishes for the month to Anne and Liz. Discussion­s were held regarding the Christmas Bran Tub and decision made to donate money instead to local charity. Some members will be attending the “Fraud, Scams and Cyber Safety” talk in November. Mabel reminded members of the evening at “Hotter” shoe shop on October 17. Some members attending the AGM on November 17 and members asked if anyone wished to join any County Sub Committee. WI bingo evening arranged for November 15 in Peniel Hall. Another evening planned for members at Tea Traders on November 20 at 5pm.

Pat gave a report on her visit to Bletchley and Woburn Abbey. First day was the visit to Bletchley with interestin­g displays and facts. Overnight stay at Milton Keys and onto Woburn Abbey the following day.

There was no speaker for the evening however Mabel and Hazel prepared a “Taster” evening. This included several snack and drink items from two and three supermarke­ts within the town.

Christmas Lunch this year has been confirmed and will be held at The New Curiosity on December 1. Shan gathering names and monies.

Monthly competitio­n winner of “Carve a Pumpkin” was Liz. The next meeting is on Thursday, November 8, at Peniel Hall at 7pm. This will be the AGM and the electing the committee for 2019.
