ROVERS EXTEND THEIR FINE RUN

LOUGHOR Rovers extended their unbeaten run in the LTC Mobility Carmarthen­shire League to three games following a hard-earned 3-1 win at a young Dafen side in the Premier division.

All the goals were second half.

The deadlock was broken in the 50th minute, and when the home team failed to clear a corner it presented Keiron Bassett with a chance to put Loughor ahead.

Although Dafen got back on terms in the 61st minute, it was the visitors who finished the stronger with goals from Jordan Smyth and Mike Grimwade.

Defending champions Bwlch Rangers made ground advantage count in a 6-1 win against visiting Seaside.

Although the game was abandoned after 75 minutes, league officials have confirmed that the result will stand.

Bwlch took control with a couple of well-taken goals from Matthew Hughes, while Clayton Jenkins, Mat- scored in the thew Williams, Matthew Thomas and Liam Cooke also netted.

Cameron Davies netted twice for Pontarddul­ais Town, who were also gifted an own goal in the 6-1 win at home to Pwll Athletic.

Leading 3-0 at the break, Pontarddul­ais scored three more goals thanks to Sion Johnson, Joel Beynon and Ian Williams.

All the goals in the clash between Tumble United and visiting Evans & Williams were scored in the last 35 minutes.

Evans & Williams eventually won a tight contest 3-2, taking the lead in the 65th minute through Corey Borthwick.

The advantage lasted less than a minute before Evans & Williams regained the lead when Steve Andrews netted from a corner. And from a corner swung in by Chris Davies, Jonny Thomas made it 3-1.

Ben Jenkins scored the only goal of the game for Killay, who beat Gorseinon Athletic 1-0.

Setting a hot pace at the top of the division one table are Pontlliw, who made it eight wins from as many games when defeating sixth-placed Johnstown 3-1 at home.

Leading 2-0 at half-time, a penalty from Luke Michaels and an Adam Scott goal helped give Pontlliw the edge. The leaders were also gifted an own goal.

Third-placed Llandovery Town were 2-0 behind at the break against visiting Kidwelly Town but battled back to win a thrilling contest 3-2.

The fightback was inspired by two goals, one of which was a penalty, from Chris Hyde, while Tom Hyde scored their other goal.

In the big game in division two, the Gwendraeth Valley derby finished in a 1-0 win for Carway against visiting Drefach.

The only goal was scored by Aaron Smith, while Carway keeper Steven Bouse saved a penalty.

Carmarthen Town United remain in fourth place in the table following a battling 4-3 win at Bancffosfe­len.

Steffan Phillips and Andrew Harvey scored in the first half for Carmarthen, while Daniel Brooks and Cian break.

FC Carmarthen still boast a 100 per cent record after a 5-1 win at home to Llangennec­h. It was 2-1 at half-time.

First-half goals by Ashley Prior and Josh Archer gave FC Carmarthen a slender advantage at the interval.

But the second half was dominated by FC Carmarthen, for whom Prior scored his second to make it 3-1 in the 58th minute. Osian Thomas netted in the 70th minute and Joseph McCann in the 78th minute to round off the scoring.

In reserve division one, striker Chris Jones scored eight of the goals for Loughor Rovers Reserves in their 12-2 away win against Pontarddul­ais Town Reserves. There was a hat-trick for Jonny Thomas and a goal for Mike Grimwade.

In a tighter game, Pengelli United Reserves deserved a 2-0 win at home to neighbours Pontlliw Reserves.

Both goals were scored in the second half by Dylan Martino and Mitch Davies. It was only the second league win of the season for Pengelli. Davies struck after the
