PONTARDDUL­AIS Workmen’s A bounced back to winning form in the first division of the Llanelli Snooker League, inflicting a first defeat on Matchroom Whites thanks to Keri Davies, Mike Footman, Dean Marston and Adam Griffiths. Tyler Rees and Dai Roberts replied.

Matchroom Reds’ fourth straight win was a 4-3 victory over Upper Tumble Blues, courtesy of Andrew Rosser, Frank Ellis, Phil Williams and Paul Thomas. Carwyn Cue and Chris Bishop helped Blues rescue the aggregate point.

Elsewhere, Keith Murrell, Mike Davies and Matthew Donald were on song for Gorseinon Workmen’s, beaten 4-3 at Pontyberem Workmen’s, whose winning trio were Brian Newcombe, Paul Rees and Karl Goble.

Morfa had a welcome 5-2 win at New Lodge A thanks to Dan Bowen, Andrew Hatto, Jamie Tudor and captain Scott Ashford. Phil Thickett and Darren Oliver hit back for Lodge.

Jamie Gimblett and Marc Walters were Tycroes RFC A’s winning pair in a 5-2 defeat against Reading Room Blues. Peter Kelly, James Ellis, Steve Greaney and Leighton Jones struck for the Burry Porters.

Llanelli Cons A were in good form, Hefin Jones, Nick Smith (53 break) and Dean Bowen (54) edging them to a 4-3 victory at Trimsaran A. Carl Thomas, Alan Emmanuel and Lewis Lloyd struck for Trim.

Burry Port Legion were aggregate 4-3 winners against Snooker World after Rob Davies, James White and Keri Phillips had won. Callum Jackson, Kristian Llewellyn and Dai Luce were on top for the Ammanford side.

Tim Walters, Lindsey Pugh, Peter Howatson and Wyn Major gave Lla- ndybie Social A a 5-2 win at Reading Room Reds. Kieran Leaf and Tony Redmond won for Clwb Bach.

In division two, Llandybie Rugby Club enjoyed a busy but fruitful week. They had a 6-1 victory over New Lodge B thanks to Richard Davies, Liam McGhee, Mark Hughes, Sion Isaac and Dar Sigsworth. Just Archie Davies won for Lodge. The rugby club also enjoyed a second win, 4-3, in a rearranged fixture against Cross Hands B, where Sion Isaac, Mark Hughes and Dar Sigsworth (58 break) starred.

Jeff Jones, Mark Davies and Gary Stead replied.

Ponthenri Social made it four out of four with a 5-2 win against a CGMD side that had just four players. Mike Dance and Brian Chapel were on top for the Glanaman side. Craig Howells and Craig Chandler won for the home side.

Karl Evans was Llandybie Social B’s solitary frame-winner in a 6-1 loss to Cross Hands B, for whom Dai Isaac, Mal Jones, Jeff Jones, Mark Davies and Alex Dickie proved too hot.

Phil McGibney and Aaron Cruickshan­k provided the points for Calsonic Rivals in a 5-2 defeat by Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s B, for whom Chris Griffiths, Peter Hopkins, Gethin Daniel and Danny Carr won.

Brandon Brown, E. Rees and Anthony Stephens edged Great Mountain, Tumble, to a 4-3 win against Bryn, for whom Steve Holmes, Dennis Davies and Dale Evans replied.

In the White Lion Cup first division last eight, Burry Port Legion exited, beaten by Pontyberem Workmen’s ( James White 61 break, Kieran Evans 31).
