Great effort sees Ammanford claim prized Seaside scalp

-

AMMANFORD Under-15s claimed the prized scalp of Seaside in the Carmarthenshire Junior League U15 division, taking the Llanelli side’s two-year unbeaten league record and taking over at the top of the table.

This game was long anticipated and turned out to be a real thriller. Ammanford had the edge with pace men Osian Davies and Scott Pugh always looking to counter and spoil. Midfield marshal Tyler Davison was superb and dominated the centre. Early changes saw Cian Williams replace the injured Harry T, coming on to add pace and commitment. Ammanford’s back four of Evan Harrow, Iestyn Richards, Harry G and Rhydian Davies meant Seaside were always going to struggle to get past this imposing defensive unit.

However, against the run of play and from a set-piece Seaside squeezed the ball into the top corner of the net, giving outstanding keeper Kieran Brook no chance.

The second half saw the introduction of Ethan Morgan and Logan Davies, and the hosts picked up the tempo. Callum Thomas opened up a gap for Osian Davies to put through Pugh, who curled the ball superbly around the keeper for the equaliser.

A formation change and restructure for the home side saw the flying Rhydian move up front. With 15 minutes left Logan found playmaker Osian, who put a perfect ball through for Rhydian, who stepped the defender and, one on one with the keeper, scored with a beautiful strike.

Another formation change saw the hosts dig in and set up a grand finale, and they held on for a fine 2-1 win.
