TROSTRE TAKE OVER AT SUMMIT

-

TRALLWM suffered a first league defeat of the season and were knocked off the top of the Premier division of the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League after going down 3-0 at Gorseinon Athletic.

All the goals were scored in the second half, with striker Nathan Logan breaking the deadlock to make it 1-0.

Gorseinon were gradually getting on top, and shortly afterwards they were given a chance to double the advantage when the referee pointed to the spot. Nathan Logan made no mistake with his penalty attempt, and the points were secured late on with a third goal from Steffan Logan.

Back on top of the table are Trostre Sports, who were twice behind before fighting back to win 4-2 at Evans & Williams.

Trostre fell behind to a goal from Jonny Thomas in the 20th minute, but were back on terms within 60 seconds thanks to Karl Jones.

Although Correy Borthwick regained the lead for Evans & Williams, the visitors levelled it up for a second time when Jamie Jenkins struck with the last kick of the opening half.

Five minutes into the second half Jenkins netted his second to give Trostre the lead for the first time before striker Chris Waters made it 4-2 to wrap up the points in the 75th minute.

There was a dramatic climax to the match between Loughor Rovers and visiting Bwlch Rangers.

Trailing to a goal early in the second half from Ian Evans, Loughor rescued a point when captain Aaron Waters grabbed an equaliser in the 90th minute.

Pontarddulais Town extended their unbeaten run in the league to four games when defeating visiting Dafen 2-0. Cameron Davies scored both goals.

Division one leaders Pontlliw continue to set a hot pace, keeping their 100 per cent record intact with a thumping 7-0 win at Abergwili.

There was a hat-trick for Dan Smale. Luke Michaels struck twice, with Adam Scott and Dan Oxenham also getting their names on the scoresheet.

Second-placed Llandovery Town are going well and deserved their hard-fought 3-2 win at Johnstown. Tom Hyde grabbed two goals and there was one for Chris Hyde.

In the big game in division two, FC Carmarthen looked in big trouble at one point but somehow managed to salvage a point from a 3-3 draw at Drefach.

Trailing 1-0 at half-time and playing with 10 men for 75 minutes, FC Carmarthen looked out of it at 3-1 behind with just 12 minutes left.

But in the dying minutes the visitors managed to find the energy to scramble goals from Paul Rees and James Devonald to add to an earlier Tony Swift effort.

There was a hat-trick for captain Zak Hartley which helped Carway to a 5-3 win at KRUF. In a highly entertaining game, the visitors added two more goals courtesy of Aaron Smith and Robert Maynard.

But goals from Justin Davies, Rhodri Williams and Llew Eldred failed to rescue Carmarthen United from a disappointing 4-3 defeat at home to Bancffosfelen.

Reserve division one leaders Evans & Williams were without a game, which gave Gorseinon Athletic Reserves and Bwlch Rangers Reserves the chance to close the gap at the top of the table.

A couple of goals from Scott James were enough to earn Gorseinon a hard-fought 2-1 win in the away clash against neighbouring Pontlliw Re- serves, while Bwlch made ground advantage count in a 3-2 win at home to Pontarddulais Town.

On target for Bwlch were Daniel Morgan, Jason Morris and Dafydd Phillips.

In reserve division two, star striker Dai Bastiman grabbed a hat-trick for Trallwm but it still wasn’t enough against visiting CK Swiss Valley Reserves.

Kristian Denieffe also found the net, but Trallwm had to settle for a point from a 4-4 draw.

And in reserve division three, there were hat-tricks for both Ryan Lee Wright and Josh Williams which helped Caerbryn to a 11-1 win in the game at CP Suburbs Reserves.

Saturday’s fixture list is dominated by the second round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup. The draw has been unkind to Seaside, who travel west to tackle Pembrokeshire cup holders Goodwick United.

Gorseinon Athletic also head to Pembrokeshire but look to have a more winnable tie against Clarbeston Road.

Of the other ties, the one that catches the eye is the clash between neighbours Pontarddulais Town and Pontlliw.
