DAVIES NEAR TO CENTURY BREAK

CHRIS Davies’s superb 89 break was the highlight in title holders Matchroom Whites’ 5-2 victory against Tycroes RFC A in the first division of the Llanelli Snooker League.

Tyler Rees (41), Dai Roberts and Tom Twigg also weighed in with frame wins, while Mikey Hopkins and Tim Lewis replied for the rugby club.

Elsewhere, Peter Kelly (46), Leighton Jones, Steve Greaney and Neil Roberts ensured Reading Room Blues had the bragging rights after a 5-2 win over Reading Room Reds in the Burry Port derby.

Nick Hughes’s fine 60 break helped Morfa earn a 5-2 win at Gorseinon A. Jamie Tudor, Scott Ashford and Greg Davies added wins, while Luke Murrell and Mike Davies replied for the Brighton Road hosts.

Burry Port Legion defeated New Lodge A 5-2 courtesy of James White (40), Rich Nurse (32), Rob Davies and Dean Thomas. Rob Penn and Sam Jenkins replied.

Nick Smith and Dean Bowen supplied points for Llanelli Cons A, beaten 5-2 by Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s A, for whom Steve Davies, Adam Griffiths, Mike Footman and Matt Jones all won.

Trimsaran A won 6-1 at Snooker World A thanks to Carl Thomas, Lee Holland, Mike Lloyd, Lewis Lloyd and Alan Emmanuel.

Callum Jackson’s win prevented a whitewash for the Ammanford men, for whom Anthony Krysa made a 46 break.

One of the top clashes in division two saw Ponthenri Social retain their unbeaten record after edging a 4-3 win against Cons B. Craig Howells, Alun James and Craig Chandler were on top, with Viv Roach, Gary Hunt and Peter Evans replying.

Phil McGibney, Aaron Cruickshan­k and Luke Williams edged a 4-3 win for Calsonic Rivals at Tycroes RFC B, whose winning three were a trio of Davieses — Ray, Sean and Mike.

Pontarddul­ais Cons B crashed 7-0 at Bryn & Trallwm, Craig Williams, Dale Evans, Dennis Davies, Steve Holmes, Clive Richards and Roy Richards all on top.

Great Mountain, Tumble, suffered the same fate, hammered 7-0 at Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s B, where Dai Gabe, Chris Griffiths, Josh Dubesky, Peter Hopkins, Gethin Daniel and Danny Carr all won.

In the Cross Hands derby, wins from Adrian Phillips, Alex Dickie, Mark Davies and Jeff Jones earned Cross Hands B a 5-2 victory over their stablemate­s, whose winning pair were Hywel Pritchard and Richard Griffiths.
