Lion roars to complete KO triumph

THERE was some high-quality action as the Team Knockout finals took place in the New Carmarthen and District Men’s Winter Darts League sponsored by Gremlin Club.

After a few shocks and some nail-biting finishes, the two teams to battle through to the final were Black Lion and Queens B.

Black Lion defeated Plough & Harrow 3-0 and defending champions Coracle A 3-1.

Queens B, last year’s Plate winners, came through 3-2 against Railway B, 3-1 against Farmers Arms and then surprised last year’s runners-up White Lion 3-2.

Black Lion were too powerful in the final and pulled away to record a 4-1 victory.

This competition was hosted by the Gremlin Club, while eight teams battled it out at the Railway Club in the Plate finals.

Here the final was contested by Coracle B and Stag’s Head. On the way Coracle B beat Wheatsheaf 3-0 and Railway A 3-2, while Stag’s Head came through 3-1 against Plough & Harrow Select and 3-1 against Friends Arms.

In the final, current division two leaders Coracle B were too strong for their first division opponents and came out 3-1 winners.

The league also held raffles at both venues in aid of the Bandi Appeal, the selected charity this year at all competitions.
