IT might not have been vintage, but in the end Llandovery got the job done as they left St Helen’s with a hard-earned four points.

Aaron Warren scored two tries, while Harri Doel also touched down for the Drovers.

“It was a hard-fought win,” said team manager Andrew Jones.

“It was definitely deserved although, if we’re being harsh, you’d say maybe we should have had a bonus point.

“But Swansea didn’t make it easy for us.

“They’ve always been quite close games and it’s always been tough for us down there.

“It’s pleasing to go into the break with the win.”

The Drovers took the lead thanks to an unconverted Doel try in the corner before Jack Maynard kicked a penalty.

Doel looked set to score again in the corner from a counter-attack, but a superb last-ditch tackle by Morgan Morris bundled him into touch.

The elusive Maynard raced through a weak tackle and found Berian Watkins in support. An outrageous dummy by the prop set up an attack, but Evans was penalised for offside.

Maynard kicked the resulting penalty.

Swansea hit back as a superb angled pass by Duane Eager to Evans saw the centre sprint up to the 22-metre line, before Morris was brought down a metre short of the line.

But Swansea managed to get quick ball out wide for Ben Cambriani to score.

Cambriani showed a sharp turn of pace on the wing as Swansea began to fancy their chances, but Evans chose the wrong option as his chip through bounced over the dead-ball line.

The visitors bagged a second try when Rees took a quick tappenalty and found Warren, who stretched over to score. Maynard converted.

Swansea hit back immediately through Mitchell Walsh, who powered over from close range after hard work by the pack.

But a solid scrum by the visitors created an overlap out wide and Warren profited with his second try to seal victory.
