Man charged over busi­ness leader’s death

THE hus­band of Mavis Bran, who died after suf­fer­ing se­ri­ous burns fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent at a Car­marthen­shire chip shop, has been charged with her mur­der.

Ge­of­frey Bran, aged 70, was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of mur­der on Wed­nes­day, and has now been charged with the mur­der of his 69-year-old wife.

Mrs Bran suf­fered se­ri­ous burns fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent at the Chipo­te­ria cafe and take­away in Her­mon, which she ran with her hus­band, on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 23. She was later taken to Mor­ris­ton Hos­pi­tal in Swansea where she died from her in­juries six days later.

Mr Bran, of Bryn Tawel in Her­mon, ap­peared at Llanelli Mag­is­trates’ Court yes­ter­day and will ap­pear at Swansea Crown Court on Mon­day.
