Newcastle Emlyn U3A
THE November meeting was very well attended and it was announced that the U3A has now reached 100 members.
Sarah Wentworth came to speak to members about Arts4wellbeing in Ceredigion, which specialises in creating fully inclusive accessible training designed to engage, inspire and motivate.
They support and promote emotional wellbeing through a unique fusion of personal development and creativity. They are a very active group in Ceredigion and hope to spread into Carmarthenshire soon.
The December meeting will be held at the Community Hall in Newcastle Emlyn on December 5 and will be an informal Christmas social with fun activities followed by a buffet Christmas lunch provided by members.
The January meeting will be on Wednesday, January 2, and the speaker will be chairman Jim Sibley, whose talk will be entitled ‘Through the Microscope’. It is hoped two new groups will start in the new year. These will be a Spanish conversation group and a science-based group.
The newly-formed Welsh conversation group is well attended and going really well. Monthly meetings usually take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 10.30am for 11am at the Community Hall, Church Lane, Newcastle Emlyn and usually finish about 12.15pm.
The U3A is for retired and semi-retired people who want to live, laugh and learn together.
Various groups meet during the month including astronomy, strolling, craft, French, games, wine appreciation and luncheon club.
