Swing dance classes Pat and Siân Thomas of Dol-y-Dder­wen have lived in Llan­gain for 27 years. They have been teach­ing swing dance for more than eight years and con­tinue to spread their love of the Lindy Hop and Charleston with the in­tro­duc­tion of a new ‘ab­so­lute be­gin­ners’ class at the Me­mo­rial Hall in Llan­gain on Tues­day evenings from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Their aim is to share this fun dance with the com­mu­nity and bring smiles, laugh­ter and some gen­tle ex­er­cise as a bonus! Christ­mas bingo last re­minder Sat­ur­day at 7pm in the Vil­lage Hall, Llany­bri.

Help the Heroes Would like to thank the peo­ple of Llany­bri and Llanst­ef­fan for their kind do­na­tions. £760 was raised from the Allo Allo - Dads’ Army event on Fri­day, Novem­ber 16. Once again a big thank you from ev­ery­one who or­gan­ised and helped to make the night such a suc­cess.

Air am­bu­lance A talk and fundrais­ing tea was held in the Cwmdu Inn re­cently. Rhys Thomas of Air Am­bu­lance Wales gave a very in­ter­est­ing and in­for­ma­tive ac­count of the work­ings and costs of run­ning the valu­able ser­vice. The teas and do­na­tions raised £170.

Farewell A sur­prise bring and share sup­per was held in the Cwmdu Inn re­cently to thank Peter and Esme Mitchell for their con­tri­bu­tion to Cwmdu, Capel Isaac and Salem and to wish them well for the fu­ture. They are mov­ing to join fam­ily in Eng­land after hav­ing lived in this area for nearly 40 years. Peter was in­stru­men­tal in per­suad­ing the Na­tional Trust to buy the Cwmdu Ter­race, Chapel and Vestry and to pre­serve it in its cur­rent form. Esme has ar­ranged the most fan­tas­tic reg­u­lar talks at St John’s Church in Capel Isaac over the years, bring­ing in ex­perts on wide-rang­ing sub­jects. Both have been un­stint­ing in their en­ergy and good will to sup­port Cwmdu, Salem and Capel Isaac and sur­round­ing schools and churches.

Quiz Richard Hughes will be do­ing an­other fun quiz in the Cwmdu Inn in to­mor­row – to be con­firmed. Please check with the shop/bar on 01558 865156.

Tal­ley Parish His­tory Group Pat Ed­wards will be hold­ing the fi­nal ses­sion in the Cwmdu Inn on Sat­ur­day from 10am to noon as the ar­chives that she has col­lected over the years will be stored in the new Car­marthen Ar­chive build­ing now be­ing built be­hind the li­brary in Car­marthen. Come along to say thank you to Pat for all time she has spent ded­i­cated to pre­serv­ing the his­tory of the area. Christ­mas mar­ket suc­cees The West Wales Poundies dog res­cue team, who do such an ex­cel­lent job in tak­ing in and re­hom­ing un­wanted dogs, held their Christ­mas mar­ket in Mum­bles last week, with var­i­ous stalls and which was also at­tended by Santa Paws! The Poundies are grate­ful to ev­ery­one for their sup­port, which helped raise £570 for the cause. Keep up the good work, Lianne and all in­volved.

Flower demon­stra­tion The Grow­ing To­gether Group will be hold­ing a flower demon­stra­tion on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 6, at 10am at the Pensioners’ Hall, Am­man­ford. Ad­mis­sion is £1, which in­cludes a drink/bis­cuits. Raf­fle tick­ets will also be avail­able for a £1, with a beau­ti­ful flo­ral ar­range­ment up for grabs. It’s panto time Oh yes it is!
