Gar­den­ing and Na­ture Group Paul O’Neill, from Ll­wyn­gar­reg, Llan­fall­teg, was the guest speaker at the meet­ing on Novem­ber 7. He gave a very in­ter­est­ing and amus­ing pre­sen­ta­tion en­ti­tled Plants I Have Killed. Chair­man Neil wel­comed three new mem­bers to the meet­ing. The an­nual din­ner has been ar­ranged for Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 16, at the Car­pen­ters Arms, Laugharne, at the cost of £10 per per­son, to be paid at the De­cem­ber meet­ing, when the guest speaker will be Pete Whit­taker.

Ys­gol Mei­drim news The chil­dren had in-house stalls sell­ing toys and cakes for Chil­dren in Need and raised £153.31, well done all. The school con­cert/carol ser­vice will be held on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 6, at 6pm, in Mei­drim Youth Hall. The school would like to ex­tend a warm wel­come to the com­mu­nity. There will also be a raf­fle at this event and prizes would be wel­comed, please hand them in at the school. The Bingo Night will now be held on Fri­day, Jan­uary 18, in Mei­drim Youth Hall, £5 en­try in­clud­ing Bingo Book. Re­fresh­ments will be avail­able.

The Ru­ral Hwb On Mon­day after­noons the lo­cal po­lice com­mu­nity sup­port of­fi­cer will now be in at­ten­dance along­side Sian, the county coun­cil’s Ru­ral Hwb of­fi­cer and the mobile li­brary in Mei­drim car park from 2.30pm to 4pm. A One Stop Shop for all your ques­tions and con­cerns, not for­get­ting that join­ing the li­brary is free and with the long win­ter evenings ahead what could be bet­ter than curl­ing up with a good book. The Ru­ral Hwb of­fers in­for­ma­tion on em­ploy­ment, train­ing, blue badges, hous­ing, rent, re­cy­cling, vol­un­teer­ing, ben­e­fits and much, much more.

Af­ter­wards there will be a tea party and ev­ery­one is asked to bring a small gift for Santa’s sack and also an ap­pro­pri­ate item of food. Our Christ­mas din­ner is on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 7, at 1.30pm in the rugby club, Whit­land. Ev­ery mem­ber is asked to find their own mode of trans­port. We will also have a Christ­mas raf­fle. Please all bring a prize. On Sat­ur­day, De­cem­ber 15, we will be go­ing to Theatr Felin­fach to see a Welsh Pan­tomime. The bus will be leav­ing Mei­drim at 11am. There will be no meet­ing in Jan­uary.

On Mon­day, De­cem­ber 17 and Tues­day, De­cem­ber 18, the church will be open and once again we will have a Tree of Re­mem­brance on which we can all hang a mes­sage in mem­ory of a loved one.
