Gardening and Nature Group Paul O’Neill, from Llwyngarreg, Llanfallteg, was the guest speaker at the meeting on November 7. He gave a very interesting and amusing presentation entitled Plants I Have Killed. Chairman Neil welcomed three new members to the meeting. The annual dinner has been arranged for Wednesday, January 16, at the Carpenters Arms, Laugharne, at the cost of £10 per person, to be paid at the December meeting, when the guest speaker will be Pete Whittaker.

Ysgol Meidrim news The children had in-house stalls selling toys and cakes for Children in Need and raised £153.31, well done all. The school concert/carol service will be held on Thursday, December 6, at 6pm, in Meidrim Youth Hall. The school would like to extend a warm welcome to the community. There will also be a raffle at this event and prizes would be welcomed, please hand them in at the school. The Bingo Night will now be held on Friday, January 18, in Meidrim Youth Hall, £5 entry including Bingo Book. Refreshments will be available.
The Rural Hwb On Monday afternoons the local police community support officer will now be in attendance alongside Sian, the county council’s Rural Hwb officer and the mobile library in Meidrim car park from 2.30pm to 4pm. A One Stop Shop for all your questions and concerns, not forgetting that joining the library is free and with the long winter evenings ahead what could be better than curling up with a good book. The Rural Hwb offers information on employment, training, blue badges, housing, rent, recycling, volunteering, benefits and much, much more.
Henoed The next meeting is on Tuesday in Meidrim Youth Hall when there will be a service of readings and carols. Afterwards there will be a tea party and everyone is asked to bring a small gift for Santa’s sack and also an appropriate item of food. Our Christmas dinner is on Friday, December 7, at 1.30pm in the rugby club, Whitland. Every member is asked to find their own mode of transport. We will also have a Christmas raffle.
