Gard puts ladies on course

-

A FINE display earned Carmarthen Athletic Ladies Hockey Club 3rds a 2-0 win over Aberystwyth University.

Carmarthen regained possession early on and went ahead when a quick ball from Carys Thomas into the D found Emily Gard, who calmly swept the ball beyond the keeper.

Aberystwyth came out strongly in the second and third quarters, using their skilful midfielders and forwards to work their way around Carmarthen’s midfield.

However, Ffion Dart, Carys Morgan, Leia Thomas and Kate Williams held their structure and worked well with each other to ensure no goals were conceded, while keeper Deryn CresseyRodgers made a number of excellent saves.

Forwards Nia Sutton, Sara Evans, Demi Bevan, Scarlett Mackenzie-Jones and Keira Griffiths worked tirelessly to get into the D and in the final minute a ball into the area found Williams, who slotted home.

Carmarthen awarded their player of the match to Thomas, while Anna Heath picked up the award from Aberystwyth.
