Organ hits right note in loss
A SPIRITED performance by Carmarthen Men’s Hockey Club saw them defeated 6-1 by Aberystwyth University.
A fast and furious opening 15 minutes provided chances for both teams, with Carmarthen staging a number of counterattacks and going close when captain Osian Evans lobbed the keeper, only to see his effort sail just wide.
Aberystwyth made the most of their let-off by bagging three goals before the interval, despite some outstanding saves from young keeper Llew Morgan.
The second half mirrored the first in many ways, with Carmarthen’s forwards looking to break at speed and get in behind a disciplined Aberystwyth defence.
This half proved more fruitful for Carmarthen, with forward Alister Tipuric paying a killer ball to Rhodri Organ, who slotted home from a seemingly impossible angle.
But despite creating more chances, Aberystwyth regained their composure to score three more before the final whistle.
