Castle charity night Acoustic Juice and Pixie Perez will be here to entertain us at the Castle Inn on Friday from 7.30pm. We will be holding an auction of some fantastic items and all proceeds are between Velindre Cancer Care and Prostate Cancer UK. Tickets are £10 each including refreshments and are available from the Castle Inn and the Village Store. It promises to be a great night. Christmas concert Ysgol Llangain and Llansteffan’s Christmas concert will be on Wednesday, December 12, at 1.30pm in Llangain Hall and 6pm at Llansteffan Hall. Church news There are no services at Llansteffan Church next Sunday but everyone is welcome to join us at Llanllwch Church for a United Communion Service at 10.30am and a service of carols at 7pm. Many thanks to our dedicated team of ladies and their helpers and also our guest Mansel Charles and his consort and the whole community who helped raise the sum of £900 at our Christmas fair.
Boxing Day swim A reminder that the big swim this year organised by Roger Davies, our Mock Mayor, will be held on Boxing Day and the tide should just about be right at 10.30am for the big dash. Get sponsorship and raise cash for a worthwhile cause or simply take a dip for fun.
Silver Swans classes The very enjoyable ballet class at Llangain Memorial Hall on Mondays from 3pm to 4pm will continue until December 10. It is a drop-in arrangement so please call and see what we do. It is suitable for all ages and our tutor Llinos McCarthy is a qualified teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance. Cost of a session is £5.
Llangain panto The 20th anniversary show is a return to the original panto, Red Riding Hood, but with a difference. Presented by the Llangain Players it will be on Friday and Saturday, January 4 and 5. Evening performances start at 7.30 pm and the matinee on Saturday starts at 2.30pm. Hub There is no Hub this Thursday but on Thursday, December 13, there will be a village Christmas market in the Memorial Hall from 10am to 4.30pm. Local craftspeople will have lots of unique items for sale so do drop in and enjoy the many craft stalls and also seasonal music from the wonderful Keith Marshall and Mia Peace. They will provide the entertainment in the morning and in the afternoon the children from Llansteffan Primary School will entertain with a medley of songs from their Christmas concert. Lots of Christmas sweetmeats to sample. This is a fundraiser for the Memorial Hall.
WI reminder The coach taking members to their Christmas function at Rhosmaen will depart the Square at 6.15pm on Monday and will pick up at the Bridge, Llangain and in Johnstown. Best dressed property Trustees of the Sports Association are again holding a best decorated property contest and we would like to lots of houses lit up over the festive period. Winners will be announced at the Christmas Eve community carol singing which starts in the Hall at 6.30pm. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served and Santa will drop by too.
