Persain After singing at the Dinefwr Christmas Fayre at Newton House, Llandeilo, and the Aberglasne­y Christmas Fayre, local ladies’ choir Persain are looking forward to celebratin­g further Christmas events. On Friday we hold our annual Christmas celebratio­n concert at All Saints Church, Ammanford. The concert begins at 7pm and our guests this year are violinist Abigail Hammett and Saron School Choir. Tickets are available at the door or from choir members – telephone 01268 592900. We look forward to a very entertaini­ng evening. On Tuesday, Persain will be entertaini­ng at Ty Dyffryn in Tirydail at 7pm, and we end our Christmas events by singing at Leekes in Cross Hands from 12.30pm to 1pm and 1.30pm to 2pm on Sunday, December 16.

Penygroes Senior Citizens The annual Christmas dinner will be held at the Kings Head on December 13; more details from Marian (01269 842422). Mulled wine and mince pie evening Petals Garden Centre, Tycroes, will be hosting their popular annual mulled wine and mince pie evening today from 5pm till 9.30pm. There will be 10% from all purchases on the evening, with a raffle, all proceeds going towards the Old Mill Foundation. There will also be a singalong with Llandybie Ladies’ Choir and a coffee shop selling hot drinks, cakes and more. More details are available from 01269 596388.

Flower demonstrat­ion The Growing Together Group will be holding a flower demonstrat­ion tomorrow from 10am at the Pensioners’ Hall, Ammanford. Admission is £1,which includes a drink/ biscuits. Raffle tickets will also be available for a £1,with a beautiful floral arrangemen­t up for grabs.

Breakfast club Is a new friendship group started at Ty Dyffryn, which meets every Monday for a full breakfast, tea/ coffee and toast for £5 a week, while also making new friends,at the Ty Dyffryn Restaurant, Rhodfa Frank, Ammanford, SA18 2QE. Car boot sale Every Sunday, there is a car boot sale behind Shoppers World, Ammanford, between 8am and 2pm; refreshmen­ts are also available.

Tea dance A tea dance (sequence, ballroom, line, etc) will be held at Ty Dyffryn on December 18, all welcome. Charitable boost Staff at Specsavers, Ammanford, wish to thank residents for helping to raise £145 in aid of Cerebra, the children’s charity supporting kids with brain conditions and their families, via a bake sale with people making small donations for a taste.

Christmas market Ammanford Market will continue to run a weekly Christmas market, every Sunday from 10.15am to 1.15pm at the Pensioners’ Hall, Ammanford. Promoting local businesses and the message to shop-local. Also, on Friday, December 21, come and relax and unwind at a pamper weekend, times to be confirmed.

Full Monty for charity On Saturday, January 12, the Amman Valley Full Monty will be held at Brynamman Hall Cinema at 8pm, organised by Saron Hall and Debbie Elias, and raising money for breast and prostate cancer charities.

Knit and Natter Sessions are being held at Ammanford Bowls Club, Manor Road, every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm, all welcome whatever your level of knitting. A small contributi­on of £1 to the club to attend and the canteen is open for drinks and snacks. More details from Sue (594798) or Sherri (592400) if required. Christmas concert Cor Meibion Llandybie with Cor Meibion Dinefwr present an evening of carols and readings on Friday, December 14, at Llandybie Parish Church, commencing at 7pm. Admission is free, but a collection will be made at the end of the concert.

Choir needs new director Llandybie Male Voice Choir urgently needs a new musical director. We are a small choir who are deeply involved within the community. Anyone interested in joining out happy band, please come along; we rehearse once a week at Llandybie OAP Hall. Bereavemen­t Deepest condolence­s are extended to the family of Donald Adrian Robinson, fondly known by friends as Don Robbie, of Llwyn y Bryn, Bonllwyn, Ammanford, who passed away peacefully on November 16 at his home.
