OUR Christmas Celebration was a happy occasion began with Marion welcoming everyone, including guests Jill, Mo and Carol to an almost full membership attendance. Apologies were received from Margaret P and Althea. A letter was read from Althea who due to ill health had been forced to resign membership. She thanked everyone for their friendship and sent her good wishes for the future of the institute. In return we hope we can stay in touch as Althea was much appreciated as a member.

The monthly lewsletter was distributed and discussed. Members had enjoyed the Christmas Celebration at Christchurch on 7th and the Coffee morning in the Carmarthen office on the 12th was also well attended and enjoyed. Sandra as head of the promotions committee was greatly appreciated for her hard work. Eluned again wished to compete in the pairs table tennis.

The resolution proposals will be voted on in January when they will be further explored and WI life re-read on the subjects. The retirement of Simon and Natalie of the Halfway Inn, Nantgaredig, leading to it’s closure on December 21, was sadly noted.

Members contributions to the buffet supper were appreciated and devoured following the 100 years of W.I. campaigns Quiz: Guess the Decade, which was both interesting and informative. Heather gained the most points and Sandra was thanked for obtaining the quiz sheets.

Christmas wishes and cards were exchanged and the toiletries for the Hafan Cymru Women’s Refuge given by members were bagged for delivery to Carmarthen.

The meeting concluded with a reminder that the January meeting will take place on the 9th. of the month at 1.30pm, when the speaker will be Canon Bryan Witt and the competition the best pet photograph.
