Seven-week absence can’t halt Ammanford march

-

AMMANFORD Under-15s returned to action following a seven-week break with a 3-0 victory over Pwll in the Carmarthenshire Junior League.

From the start Ammanford dominated and took control with some superb passing from Jac Chapman, Harry Jones and Harry G.

Ammanford camped in the visiting half and only a number of excellent saves by the Pwll keeper kept the scores level.

But the breakthrough eventually arrived when Harry Jones avoided a couple of tackles and struck a 25yard shot into the roof of the net.

The second goal came from a long kick out from the hosts that made its way to Steffan Thomas, who beat his defender and slammed home from a narrow angle.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, though Pwll always had the quality to break and did look threatening on occasions. But the third goal was inevitable and came via Scott Pugh.

Ammanford continued to make changes, but passed the ball around confidently as the game entered its closing stages.

Pwll continued battling to the end, but were denied a consolation goal.

Ammanford host Johnstown on Saturday in another league encounter.
