Leaders stay on track for title with Railway swept aside

LEADERS Coracle A resumed where they left off as the New Carmarthen & District Men’s Winter Darts League sponsored by Gremlin Club returned after the Christmas break.

They enjoyed a resounding 6-1 win at Railway B.

Second-placed Black Lion kept up the pressure with a 5-2 success over Carpenters.

Also victorious on the road were White Lion, 4-3 over bottom side Fountain Inn. Stag’s Head narrowly won their derby over Nomads 4-3.

Division two runaway leaders Coracle B won 5-2 against Railway A. Second-placed Wheatsheaf went down 4-3 at home to Farmers Arms.

Queens A beat Plough & Harrow Select 4-3 and there was also a 4-3 success for Gremlins over Friends Arms.

Best out: Mike Bryan 124, Peter Evans 121, Mike Jones 104, Dorian Bowen 101, Ben Farr 100.

This Thursday and Vice Captains’ tournament at Gremlin Club. This year sees a change of format as any two of three nominated captain or vice-captains play singles against another team, with a game of doubles to be used in case of a decider.

The league is also trialling a blind pairs tournament on the same night at Railway Club for any players not involved at the Gremlin Club.
