Pugh pounces to put Ammanford on road to victory

-

AMMANFORD Under-15s eased to a 5-0 victory over Johnstown in the Carmarthenshire Junior League.

The win keeps them second in the table, six points behind Seaside but with three games in hand.

Jac Chapman, Harry Jones and Tyler Davison dominated the middle of the park, starving the visitors of any ball.

Wingmen in the shape of Cian Williams and Harry Thomas proved to be a real handful and linked with frontrunner Scott Pugh on several occasions.

The breakthrough came from a period of neat passing that found its way into the box where Pugh pounced to make it 1-0.

The second came soon after from a set-piece where the outstanding Harry G side-footed the ball into the corner of the net.

The second half saw five changes from the home side and with a new formation Johnstown had to dig in to hold them out. This was successful until midway through the half when Rhydian Davies bagged an opportunist goal to make it 3-0.

The fourth goal was a beautiful effort that saw Davies beat two defenders and send over a pinpoint cross to Harry G, who headed powerfully into the roof of the net.

Johnstown battled to the end and earned credit for their efforts.

Ammanford face Whitland on Saturday for their first ever meeting in the league.
