Pairs reach finals night

THERE was a busy start to the year for the New Carmarthen and District Men’s Winter Darts League sponsored by Gremlin Club as two competitions were staged.

The Captains and Vicecaptains events were held at Gremlin Club and a Blind Pairs was held at Railway Club for all other league players.

A change of format saw teams drawn against each other with captains and vice-captains playing each other and a deciding leg of doubles if scores were level. This proved a great success.

Taking their places on Finals Night will be Richard Jupp and Peter Evans (Coracle A) and Rhydian Jones and Simon Davies (Plough & Harrow).

Jones and Davies defeated John Elias and Paul Jones (Wheatsheaf) and Stag’s Head pair Phil Davies and Mike Jones, then prevailed against Andrew Major and Ben Farr from White Lion.

Jupp and Evans took out James Visor and Jason Hayes (Gremlins), Coracle B rivals Jason Davies and Tom Bryan, Queens B duo Graham Slate and Andrew Langley and finally Stag Nomads’ Mike Sizer and Andy Kid Davies.

The Blind Pairs was also an enjoyable evening, with players all going back into the hat at the end of every round to be drawn with different partners. Coming through to win the inaugural event were Dylan Stone and Dorian Bowen.

This week sees a return for all teams to league action.
