ARTIST Robert Davies wants to install a single metal cast of a Ceredigion oak tree on the beach in Borth, which has divided opinion. BLACKSHADOW1986 As soon as it gets put up I’m sure it would be torn down or vandalised. Metal tree destroying the view of a lovely landscape. NEVILLE SHAZE I think it will enhance the landscape for the relatively brief period it’s in place. It’ll be no less a blot than the groynes or the sea wall.
JSJENK What a waste of money and time. I’m sure there are more important projects that could with the money for installing what will become, quite quickly, rusty scrap iron, that will have to be dug up in case it falls on somebody walking their dog, within the year. TORCLE It’s absolutely disgusting. Borth, especially the beach, has such a magnificent view and it would be spoiled by this ugly metal tree. HENSRULE Why can’t nature just be left to speak for itself? Why is it always thought necessary to put our imprint on everything in order to consider it more worthwhile? Just leave places as untouched as we can, rather than pollute them with costly, unnecessary bits of ‘art’. KRAG Why is it that artists believe that somewhere beautiful needs art to make it better. There is a place for art but this beach is naturally beautiful, man has done enough damage to our world. Nature needs less from man not more so leave it alone.
