Dozen affordable homes in pipeline

-

A DOZEN affordable homes could be on their way to the edge of Carmarthen.

Plans have been lodged by Swansea and Newport-based Pobl Group which wants to construct the new houses south of Bronwydd Road at Tanerdy.

The application site forms part of the existing curtilage of a property known as Ty Gwynfa which itself has been turned into residential flats, having been granted permission in 2012.

A statement with the application by planning agents Asbri Planning on behalf of the Pobl Group states: “This proposal comprises the second phase of the Gwynfa development. Phase one occupies the western portion of the site in the form of Gwynfa House/ Ty Gwynfa – which has been restored to provide a flat development comprising six units.

“As a second phase development, the proposal seeks to develop the area for residential purposes, with 12 affordable units proposed, including a shared access between Ty Gwynfa and the site itself.

“The site is not in beneficial use and has in fact been in disuse for an extended period of time.

“The eastern portion of the site is overgrown.”

The plans are expected to be discussed by council planners shortly.
