Look forward to seeing you there.

Public meeting On Monday, an open meeting has been organised for a discussion on the Local Development Plan for years 2018 to 2033. Ian Llewellyn, the forward planning officer for Carmarthenshire Council, will be attending so please come along and make your views known. Information will also be given by councillor Linda Evans regarding Maes Griffith-Cartref Croeso, which provides housing for local people. The meeting will be in the Memorial Hall starting at 7.30pm.

The Hub This Thursday there will be an opportunity to learn about the techniques involved in mindfulness and how it can benefit the individual. A specialist practitioner will be taking the session and she will be funded by the local Sit and Be Fit group. Drop in and have a cuppa and find out more. We have many DVDs which can be borrowed and if you wish to advertise anything there is a display board for use. Also, we now collect used stamps for the RNIB, but please trim them about 1cm around the edge.

WI meeting The year started with a fascinating illustrated talk by Darren Sainty who described the hugely contrasting places across the globe he has visited as a mountain leader. We were transported from Machu Picchu to Vietnam, the Himalayas to Snowdonia, and many fascinating cultures in between. The photography was stunning and Darren answered several questions on his experiences. He was warmly thanked by Constance Lewis. The business meeting included the voting for the National Resolutions and County Advisor Maureen Davies explained the selection process. Helen was thanked by president Una Davies for organising the wonderful evening at the Plough, Rhosmaen, and expressed her thanks to the ladies who decorated the Christmas tree at the successful Tree Festival in Llanllwch Church. Ann Iorwerth agreed to continue as our representative on the hall council for the year beginning April 2019 and members agreed that a donation of £50 be sent to the County WI towards the upkeep of the office. Members signed up to several opportunities in the monthly letter and Barbara Evans gave her report on the annual council meeting. Subscriptions of £42 were paid and Una congratulated Grace Pulley, who was joining for her 60th year as a member, originally joining an Institute in Oxfordshire but a member of Llansteffan for many years. The competition winner with the best action photo was Helen and the raffle prize was won by Margaret Metcalfe.
